Description

Summary: The Hospice Physician is responsible for providing medical direction and leadership to the care and treatment of patients and their families in collaboration with the patient's primary care physician. This includes maintaining quality standards in healthcare provided to Hospice Savannah patients.

Qualifications:

  • License to Practice Medicine: The Hospice Physician must be licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia.
  • Board Certification: The Hospice Physician must be board certified in a medical specialty dealing with end-of-life care, such as Internal Medicine, Oncology, or Family Practice.
  • Experience: The Hospice Physician must have experience in the care of terminally ill patients, with a minimum of five years in a medical specialty dealing with end-of-life care.
  • Communication Skills: The Hospice Physician must have excellent communication and presentation skills to represent Hospice Savannah within the physician community and general public.

Physical Demands:

  • Patient Interaction: The Hospice Physician requires extensive patient interaction, which may occasionally require the ability to ambulate or move a patient, either assisted or unassisted, utilizing proper lifting techniques.
  • Infectious Diseases: The Hospice Physician may be at moderate risk of exposure to infectious diseases, which may require special safety precautions.

Work Environment:

  • Daily Visits: The Hospice Physician will make daily visits to Hospice House patients.
  • On-Call Schedule: The Hospice Physician will participate in an on-call schedule.
  • Home Care Patients: The Hospice Physician will provide Hospice Physician services for home care patients, including home visits.
