Role Summary: The Physical Security Officer is responsible for safeguarding ERCOT's facilities against unauthorized access and potential threats. This role encompasses a range of customer service and security-related tasks, including:

  • Providing assistance and information to visitors and staff.
  • Conducting patrols to identify security, safety, and fire hazards.
  • Securing premises and managing access to buildings and parking areas.
  • Documenting incidents and responding to service calls.
  • Coordinating with local authorities during emergencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement access control measures for personnel, materials, and vehicles.
  • Process visitor security access efficiently.
  • Utilize communication devices and technology for operational effectiveness.
  • Monitor alarm systems and surveillance equipment.
  • Perform regular security patrols and observe activities at assigned locations.
  • Provide first response services when necessary.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions that may impact security or safety.
  • Deter criminal behavior and enforce safety regulations.
  • Engage with ERCOT employees and visitors with professionalism.
  • Document events and incidents accurately.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in physical security, law enforcement, military, or customer service roles is required.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • A combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge is acceptable.

Licenses:

  • Preferred: Texas Department of Public Safety Level III Commissioned Security Officer.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must pass a physical abilities test in accordance with Security Training and Qualification Guidelines.
  • Must complete state-required training or other qualifications for licensing.
