THE ROLE

The Compliance Lead Specialist is responsible for designing and implementing components of the compliance monitoring program. The Compliance Lead Specialist will interact with Compliance Department personnel and business units to design and execute monitoring program procedures, evaluate results, and develop and monitor action plans to address issues identified. The role will also prepare periodic management reports summarizing monitoring program procedures performed and results

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Monitoring
  • Provide direction and support for MFS' employees to ensure that MFS' ETF policies and procedures across all areas of Compliance are understood and implemented effectively.
  • Perform the compliance review and ensure all materials meet requirements.
  • Manage assigned business partner relationships by attending status meetings, responding to questions, communicating compliance requirements, and delivering on stated review turnarounds and standards.
  • Recommend and draft new guidelines and procedures.
  • Keep abreast of and communicate changes in regulatory rules, guidelines and interpretations affecting compliance materials.
  • Manage specialized projects on behalf of the Compliance Team.
  • Monitor regulatory implementation efforts in coordination with LCERM Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Project Management teams as needed.
Train
  • Prepare and provide compliance-related training to personnel related to areas of responsibility.
  • Educate and inform assigned business partners as necessary as to required revisions, new MFS policies, new regulations, etc. which impact the business' compliance materials and plans.
Reporting
  • Assist with the design, development and delivery of tools and processes to support management and analytical reporting by designing and maintaining reports and procedures that support the compliance programs.
  • Prepare periodic management status reports or presentations on and respond to questions regarding compliance program activities and results.
Other
  • Support the MFS Regulatory Change Management (RCM) Program to in order to assist with the RCM business processes (e.g., adding, tracking and assisting with the resolution of items) within relevant systems (e.g., GRC tool - Archer). Work closely external and internal support teams to determine best approach for communicating updated information to Senior Management and Boards.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as requested, including but not limited to assisting with additional components of Compliance's program.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
  • 5-6+ years of work experience.
  • Excellent organization, presentation, problem-solving and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Strong partnership skills and the ability to collaborate with Business Units across MFS.
  • Proven analytical skills with the ability to make independent decisions, develop creative solutions to problems and propose implementation of same.
  • Able to effectively drive solutions throughout the organization and present ideas in a clear and concise way. Escalate issues and advocate for solutions.
  • Understanding of the business operations and practices, procedures, and controls specific to the business units supported is required. Must be aware of best practices as well as evolving issues within scope of the position.
  • Strong presentation skills. Must be able to present comfortably before small to mid-size groups.
  • Overtime may be required occasionally.
  • Prior experience working in the financial services industry and/or global expertise in sales and marketing review preferred.
  • Prior experience with ETFs preferred
