Boston, United States State Street Corporation Full time
Head of Agency Lending E-Trading, Vice President

Who we are looking for:
We are looking for a Vice President, who will be part of the broader Securities Finance ecosystem that is composed of three products - Agency Lending (AL), Prime Services (PS) and Financing Solutions (FS).
Securities Finance places a strong emphasis on collaboration and talent development and there will be many opportunities to work closely with our Business Development, Client Management, Algorithmic Trading, Technology, Operations, Risk and cash re-investment teams. You will be required to build relationships across these teams to maximize successful outcomes. You will also have daily exposure to our Agency lending Fixed Income traders who form part of the broader agency lending trading team in London.

Why this role is important to us?
State Street's award-winning Agency Lending team is a market leader in Securities Finance, for a flagship product within our Global Markets business.
The Agency Lending team generates over $1.2bn in annualized revenue for over 225 active customers including many of the world's largest sovereign wealth funds, asset managers and pension funds who entrust State Street with over $5 trillion in lendable inventory. We trade with over 150 banks, brokers, and investment managers across 37 lending markets from trading desks in 6 global locations.
Our global trading team executes loans both manually and electronically, leveraging data-driven insight for best execution. Each asset has unique value; both traders and trading algos utilize a variety of data sources to determine the loan fee for each security, which includes macro- and microeconomic factors, global, sector or company specific news, corporate events, as well as supply and demand dynamics.
The intersection of manual trading and the use of and ongoing development of trading algorithms, deployed across automated trading processes is our competitive advantage and how we create alpha for clients.

What you will be responsible for:
The successful candidate will:
  • Drive our e-trading optimization and development strategy globally
  • Create a consistent global framework of e-trading activity analysis and action, leveraging and guiding a network of traders throughout our global trading organization for support
  • Lead efforts to increase the technical knowledge of the trading team through mentorship and educational opportunities
  • Develop and maintain strong and diverse borrower e-trading relationships to ensure State Street is their primary lending agent
  • Provide quantitative analysis of the lending program identifying themes to discuss with clients, business development and relationship management teams internally
  • Collaborate with analytic and IT development partners to assist in driving our development strategies
  • Proactively engage with subject matter experts to continually advance knowledge in areas which directly impact our trading strategies, including cost of capital, changes in tax and regulatory requirements and market trends
  • Innovate and explore ways to improve current systems and processes. You will actively participate in designing/building our new proprietary trading platform- your experience, ideas and skillset will contribute to creating a highly efficient low-touch suite of trading and post-trade functionality to minimize legacy inefficient manual workflows

What we value:
These skills will help you succeed in this role:
  • Communication skills to build and manage relationships across financial institutions as well as with third-party vendor and platform providers
  • Ability to problem solve, develop tools and enhance trading methodologies using programming language such as Python to deliver improved optimization of returns
  • Proven leadership skills - enjoys driving new initiatives forward with energy and enthusiasm
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical and technical skills
  • Quantitative skills to manipulate large datasets and deliver meaningful and actionable outputs
  • Ability in Qlikview, VBA, SQL, Python (Pandas / Numpy etc) or equivalent programming language

Education & Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in any combination of electronic trading, algo development, trader coding, chat bot development, robotic process automation, performance benchmarking analytics development .
