The Legal Claims Professional will under limited supervision handle public company Director’s and Officer’s (D&O), Fiduciary and transactional risk claims of moderate to high value and complexity. The ideal candidate will have experience reviewing complaints and all other legal pleadings and discovery, arbitration demands, coverage analysis, determining exposure and setting appropriate reserves. They will resolve claims according to Best Practices and within authority limits and will regularly communicate with customers and brokers. They may be dedicated to handle claims for specific accounts. Additional responsibilities include: Analyze coverage, liability and damagesParticipate in mediations and negotiating settlementsDraft reservation of rights and coverage denial lettersNotify Underwriter of claim issuesDraft case summary reports in connection with significant reserve increases and trial preparationDirect activities of defense counsel Basic Qualifications: Juris Doctor and 5 or more years of experience in the Legal areaANDJD and 5 or more years of legal practice experience in the insurance area Must obtain and maintain required adjuster license(s)Experience in insurance claims and the insurance legal and regulatory environmentNegotiation experienceCustomer service experienceMicrosoft Office experience Preferred Qualifications: Member of the BarClaims handling experience with at least 5 or more years in professional liability, D&O and/or insurance coverage defenseAnalytical skillsStrong communication skillsAbility to multi-taskOrganization and time management skillsAbility to work independentlyExperience collaborating across work groupsInsurance designations such as SCLA, CPCU, AIC Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable range of compensation for roles. For additional information about our Total Rewards, click here. Other rewards may include short term incentive bonuses and merit increases. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill, and education. The salary provided is a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled. The starting salary range for this position is $130,000 - $182,000, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%. As an insurance company, Zurich is subject to 18 U.S. Code § 1033.
