To meet growing consumer demand for great-tasting, high-quality Italian meats and charcuterie, Principe Foods is opening a new facility, combining old world traditions with innovative recipes, and expanding the authentic artisan offerings of Principe in the United States.JBS Prepared Foods, a division of JBS USA, the leading global supplier of diversified, high-quality food products, acquired Principe Foods in February 2022.  Now it is your turn to join a company with the mission to use these 100-plus years of knowledge to be the BEST in all we do; completely focused on our business, ensuring the BEST products and services to our customers; a relationship of trust with our suppliers and profitability for our shareholders.  All this, we do to provide an opportunity for a better future for all of our TEAM MEMBERS.We are looking for a Laboratory Technician for the Principe Columbia site that:JOB SUMMARYUnder direct supervision and under established laboratory procedures, the technician would be responsible for conducting microbiological and chemical testing of food product.  In addition, they will assist with various companywide projects related food safety and quality.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESApply aseptic technician in all aspect of work Conduct microbiological and chemical testing of food product Inventory and report status of consumables (e.g.  supplies) Conduct routine preventive maintenance and sanitize laboratory equipment Critically analyze data and enter in LIMS database Maintain agents and media as need for daily testing Assist with investigational studies Follow all laboratory safety guidelines Share information & collaborate co-workers in an open and timely manner Conduct equipment calibration activities Lead by example to ensure the actions of other services employees support our goals for quality, quantity, and safety.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESHS Diploma or equivalent, college degree in microbiology preferred.  Relevant work experience and proven skills will be considered in lieu of education.Ability to work-in a fast-paced environment both individually and as a teamFlexibility to work overtime and weekends as business demandsExcellent written and verbal communication skills requiredBasic computer skills required, including Outlook and ExcelDemonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skillsBasic understanding of Quality Control Laboratory equipment & methodologiesWORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSLaboratory environment; sterile environment.  Potentially working with hazardous materials.  Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. More about us:Opportunity for career growth – we prefer to promote internal employees into management roles as they are ready for new responsibilities Comprehensive benefits package for full time employees including Medical, 401(k) and free tuition to select schoolsCharitable involvement across Mid-West communities (Hometown Strong)Company Culture (Purpose & Culture)  EOE/Vets/Disability
