Training. This free training program is a five week long commitment and is comprised of both classroom instruction and hands-on clinical experiences. The program also offers an education stipend to support you while you’re training. After program completion, trainees will be eligible for employment in our long term care facilities. Students will not work while in program.What is a C.N.A? A Certified Nursing Assistant provides direct health care needs to patients, often under the supervision of a nurse. C.N.A responsibilities include feeding, monitoring the health of patients, bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and specimen collection.The C.N.A. Trainee role is a transitional, entry-level position designed to train on the necessary skills required to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A). Candidates hired into this position are required to take and pass the C.N.A Training Class and state mandated test in order to earn their C.N.A Certification.COUNTIES SERVED: Wayne/Ontario County TRAINING LOCATION: Clifton Springs Nursing HomeDEPARTMENT: Long Term CareSCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8am-4:00pm LENGTH OF TRAINING: 3 weeksCLASS START DATES: Classes offered monthlyWORK LOCATIONS: Demay Living Center (Newark, NY) or Clifton Springs Nursing Home (Clifton Springs)COMPENSATION: $15 an hour during orientation and $1,500 stipend during training course. ATTRIBUTESHigh School Diploma or equivalent preferredCompassionate, warm and patient focusedCritical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervisionExceptional documentation skills and professional behaviorAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentRESPONSIBILITIES Training Program | Skillfully and safely, perform all activities required to successfully pass the C.N.A certification in order to transition into the C.N.A role. Must remain in good standing with training program. Failure to remain in good standing for any reason may result in termination at the discretion of the training program leaders. Prepare and complete test to obtain C.N.A. Certification.Clinical Care | Read and follow resident’s care card; care plan includes residents daily personal care needs, treatments and therapies. Give personal care to residents: bathing, toileting, feeding, transferring, and ambulating. Promote residents involvement and independence to the extent the resident is able. Assist with and/or perform procedures as outlined and according to policy with proper instruction and supervision such as: admitting, transferring, discharging residents; taking vital signs, collecting specimens such as urine and stool, changing colostomy bags, changing non-sterile dressings, bagging soiled briefs, measuring and recording intake and output, caring for residents on precautions, giving care to dying residents and deceased residents.Resident Interaction | Assist residents with personal services such as personal laundry, maintaining well-kept room, operating television, radio, reading, and/or writing letters. Assist family and visitors, directing questions regarding the patient’s clinical condition to the supervising nurse. Engage residents in conversations of interests and encourage them to recall memories. EDUCATION:LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.
