Location Description: Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods.  We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled and curds.  Responsibilities: POSITION SUMMARYThe Leads Person is responsible for working with the department supervisor on training of new and existing personnel, providing a safe work environment and assigning of work duties. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Assists in training of all processing and production personnel in assigned departmentAssists supervisor in updating training for existing personnel whenever equipment changes are instituted or news procedures are implementedHelps in providing for a safe work environment for all personnel and helps ensure that all production complies with food safety standards as established by Michael Foods (Dry sanitation)Works with supervisor to help maintain sanitation standards of facilityAssigns work tasks to department personnelLoad/Unload trucksBasic inspection of materialRotates/put away inventoryPulls/set up material for productionCycle counting daily and general organization of Packaging WarehouseIdentify and assist with shrink/damage investigationAssists with safety audits to identify potential safety issues and participates in a Safety teamInteract with truck drivers and verify shipment accuracy and production personnel to meet product needsEnter all receipts in SAP and investigate any discrepanciesCopy and distribute delivery documentationTroubleshoot with productionProcess STO and special shipments as neededInteract with accounting to fix delivery discrepancies and cycle count variancesVendor interaction when needed, if buyer out of office, shipment mistakes, delivery schedulingManages pulling material from off site warehouse to meet production needsScheduling deliveries with trucking companiesAssist with inventory management to ensure stock out for ingredients and packagingAssumes personal responsibility to insure safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and, incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasksAdheres to Quality work practices, follows GMP’s, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures that product quality is maintainedReports to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and qualityAble to work overtime and holidays when neededInsures regulatory compliance at all timesPerform other duties as assigned Qualifications: EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCEHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent (Preferred)Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memosAbility to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situationsAbility to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’sAbility to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distanceAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization existsAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule formSelf-motivated and a willingness to learnLeadership and/or experience training new employeesMust be able to work overtime and weekends (once a month) and willing to work an alternate shiftMust have basic computer skills (excel, word, etc.) Ability to obtain forklift operator licenseAbility to obtain First Aid/CPR trainingPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Capable of safely lifting 75 lbs on occasionAbility to work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty and humid environments
