Position Title: Maintenance Lead Position Type: Regular - Full-Time Position Location: Burley Requisition ID: 32896 SUMMARY Responsible for the safe execution of maintenance work in support of the production lines by performing mechanical duties on industrial equipment. Maximizes the utilization of all maintenance resources, including people, time, and materials. Uses, trains, and assists others in blue prints, schematics, and other Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P & Id's) to install, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial equipment. Communicates maintenance requirements and parts/supplies needed to repair equipment and keep production running efficiently. Helps train others on the maintenance team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Promotes and adheres to company safety regulations as a "Champion of Safety." Capable to design and fabricate components and equipment as needed. Coordinate critical repairs and inspections in a timely and effective manner. Prioritize maintenance tasks and responsibilities to ensure that maintenance work is executed in a safe and timely manner. Responsible for shift performance and the completion of scheduled maintenance work on all plant processing and packaging equipment. Leads, instructs, and assists others in the safe execution of maintenance work as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor. Serves as a team leader and/or mentor to assist other mechanics with their duties. Contributes to building a positive team spirit through personal positive attitude and building morale of the maintenance team. Listens to and works with maintenance team members in order to recommend future training requirements. Promotes a customer focused team environment. Capable of multi-tasking and performing diverse functions with little supervision. Identifies production line operational inefficiencies and suggests and executes improvements. Performs root cause failure analysis on equipment and system failures that result in more than thirty (30) minutes of downtime. Responsible for assisting with maintenance inspection routes and auditing maintenance inspection routes as required. Works in a safe manner, utilizes personal protective equipment, and observes safety policies such as Lock Out / Tag Out procedures to ensure personal safety. Monitors and ensures that all maintenance documents are inputted correctly and accurately in the computerized maintenance system (CMMS). Proficient in the use of computers, including the ability to enter data and maintain Excel spreadsheets and the ability to use e-mail. Performs basic carpentry, building maintenance, and plumbing as needed to support department needs. Communicates positively and effectively with operation personnel, peers, planning and scheduling, outside vendors, and supervisors. Communicates any problems or changes in working environment to appropriate personnel. Understands and adheres to the concepts and techniques of the quality process in order to assure a quality operation. Keeps work area clean and orderly in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and according to the principles of 5S. Performs assigned tasks in a manner that does not endanger the environment and adheres to company and regulatory standards. Active involvement in Behavioral Observation Safety (BOS). Wears appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required. Helps to build and promote a strong "teamwork" environment in each individual work group, the factory, and the company. May be required to participate in a continuous improvement process, such as an MCE event. Other duties as assigned. REPRESENTATION Must adhere to the McCain Code of Conduct. SCOPE OF AUTHORITY Responsible to monitor work areas, area systems, and watch for suspicious behavior and report any concerns regarding unidentified visitors and/or unauthorized personnel. Will have the authority to question and take appropriate measures regarding the safety of you, other employees, all products, and equipment. Responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the food processing facility, especially where any raw or finished product is produced. Authority to report and/or eliminate hazards to the safety of the food that is produced in the facility. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Completion of one year toward an Associate degree (A.A.) or the equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; a minimum of six (6) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Must have the ability to write simple correspondence, effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to perform basic math operations, including addition and subtraction. Understand and work with fractions and decimals to make settings, select machine drive components, and correctly size tools. Ability to apply math concepts to basic fabrication tasks. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply a reasonable person's understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to recognize mechanical operation of timing and sequence cycles to know when machines are not operating properly. CERTIFICATION, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Required to obtain and maintain a factory issued power industrial vehicle (PIV) license for any and/or all classifications as required. Valid factory issued forklift operator's license. Valid factory issued telehandler operator's license. Valid factory issued golf cart operator's license. Valid factory issued aerial lift operator's license. Must have valid state driver's license.
