Zurich is currently looking for an experienced AVP Middle Markets Underwriter for our team in Overland Park As a member of Zurich's Underwriting Team, you will enjoy the opportunity to fully apply and hone your underwriting and marketing skills. Specifically, you will underwrite and analyze new and renewal middle market, property and casualty accounts. In this role you will handle complex business across a wide variety of business segments. This is a market facing position and you will be expected to visible in the marketplace 20% of the time. Our AVP Middle Markets Underwriter is responsible for:  Underwriting, analyzing and generating new and renewal business Market facing and production within the Middle Markets division Administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules Developing and maintaining agency and broker relationships in the Midwest working within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments  Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.ORHigh School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaORZurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing areaORZurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaANDExperience with Microsoft OfficePreferred Qualifications: Bachelors DegreeAdvanced knowledge and practice of line/s of businessStrong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelinesAbility to effectively assess riskAbility to work in a team-based environmentKnowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal businessStrong presentation skills As an insurance company, Zurich is subject to 18 U.S. Code § 1033. As a condition of employment at Zurich, employees must adhere to any COVID-related health and safety protocols in place at that time (https://www.zurichna.com/careers/faq). A future with Zurich.
