Position Title: Animal Welfare ManagerDepartment: Live PorkLocation: Dalhart, TX (TX/CO Region)Salary Class: SalariedReports to: EHS DirectorPurpose & Scope: The Animal Welfare Managerwill conduct animal welfare audits, deliver hands-on animal handling training, coordinate PQA training and certifications, and actively participate in program supportfor the JBS Live Pork Texas
Colorado Region (TXC0). The TXCO Region has locations in Dalhart, TX, Lamar, CO and contract farms in Iowa and Illinois.A successful candidate will be able to work independently and maintain objective judgment. They will also need to be able to work with various stakeholder groups, including but not limited to Farm Managers, Production Managers, Field Managers, Contract Growers, Transporters, and processing plant personnel, to collaborate and provide feedback.Principle Responsibilities:Conduct and provide feedback on internal animal welfare and transportation audits (40%)Deliver hands on training to Field Managers, contract growers, and live haul drivers (30%)Coordinate and attend 3rd party audits (10%)Assist with record keeping, reporting and development of internal programs and materials (10%)Serve as a resource to internal and external stakeholders (10%)Overnight Travel approximately twice a quarterWorking Conditions:Extensive travel required. Must be comfortable working in hog production facilities and around live animals.Required Qualifications:Must be able to become PAACO Certified. PAACO Certification Requirements:B.S or higher with relevant livestock experience of 3 years within the past 5 yearsOR Associates degree with relevant livestock experience in 5 of the last 7 yearsOR High school diploma with relevant livestock experience of 10 years within the past 15 yearsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsBilingual: English-Spanish strongly preferredSelf-motivatedExceptional interpersonal skills; ability to handle conflictComfortable in training situationsThe applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the followingcompensation and benefits:Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;Paid Time Off: paid sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;401(k):company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;Better Futures Program
