This position will allow for remote work flexibility, but selected candidate will need to be local to Sacramento, CA.
Position Purpose: Influence formulation of legislation and budget actions that affect company statewide operations. Ensure the company’s interests are represented by advocating before legislators, regulators and the Governor’s office as well as key staff serving elected officials.
- Develop and manage high level and complex relationships with state legislatures and staff
- Plan and execute strategies to ensure that legislation has a positive or neutral effect on the organization
- Monitor, analyze, and interpret legislation and proposed amendments to determine possible effect on Centene
- Advise senior management on how trends in state public policy may impact the organization's business interests
- Analyze state budget documents and seek company input
- Attend hearings, conferences and other events on behalf of Centene to protect and advance the organization’s business interests
- Manage the organization's most high level, complex, controversial, or critical government relationships.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Law, Public Administration or related field
- Advanced degree preferred
- 8+ years of government relations experience
- Knowledge of laws governing the provision of public and private health coverage
- Knowledge/experience with HCAI/Office of Health Care Affordability preferred
- Knowledge/experience of health care data sharing and information exchange preferred
- Knowledge of rules governing California legislative process
- Ability to understand and read state statutes and regulations
- Ability to communicate complex issues clearly
- Experience functioning as a lead
- Experience within the state Legislature or the Executive Branch preferred
- Knowledge of State Program Funding
- Established relationships with Regulatory and Legislative Staff
Pay Range: $103,500.00 - $191,600.00 per yearCentene offers a comprehensive benefits package including: competitive pay, health insurance, 401K and stock purchase plans, tuition reimbursement, paid time off plus holidays, and a flexible approach to work with remote, hybrid, field or office work schedules. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law. Total compensation may also include additional forms of incentives.
