Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Legislative Affairs Specialist to join our team at CAIR California. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic organization that advocates for the rights of the American Muslim community.

The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining strategic relationships with local and state government entities and agencies to advocate for civil and human rights legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage CAIR-CA's legislative agenda
  • Track legislation and monitor committee meetings and legislative action
  • Participate in workshops and hearings concerning relevant policy matters
  • Identify opportunities for grassroots engagement on state issues
  • Lead/participate in coalitions and mobilize the community

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in political science, public relations, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum three years of full-time experience in public policy and government affairs
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Experience with public speaking and advocacy to policymakers
  • Proven ability to develop key relationships and identify collaborative opportunities
