Downtown Portland, OR Compensation: $23.80 / hourShift 1: Tuesday thru Saturday 3rd Shift 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. (40 hour full time)Shift 2: Thursday thru Monday 3rd Shift 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. (40 hours full time)Included Perks & Benefits:• DailyPay - a voluntary benefit that allows you to access your pay on day 1 of work.PAY: Get instant access to your money as you earn itSAVE: Automatically save a portion of every paycheckBALANCE ALERTS: Track your real-time earnings & budget for upcoming bills or expenses• Health insurance for full-time employees (includes Health, Dental, and Vision)• 401k• Uniforms ProvidedAbout the job:You can provide a presence of safety by conducting bicycle patrols and walking especially in areas of high rates of crimes.You are comfortable riding a bike the majority of your shiftYou are a fast thinker and quickly engage in problem-solving You understand the importance of maintaining a daily log and filing incident reports.You will abide by Oregon State law and Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (“DPSST”) certification standardsHighly competent with extensive experience in visitor and crowd management, street level interaction and problem solving, and serving the public in downtown urban environment.Highly skilled in preventing and defusing potentially volatile situations, know how to handle potentially dangerous situations, and make sound use of force decisions.Able to engage safely and effectively with persons participating in criminal behavior.Able to conduct themselves as goodwill ambassadors representing the City of Portland, the SmartPark Garage system, Portland Downtown Heliport, and Streetcar Facilities providing information and assistance to downtown visitors.Skilled at writing incident reports suitable for inclusion in police reports and presentation in court proceedings. Demonstrated experience in providing testimony in criminal court, and other legal proceedings.Able to work safely and competently side by side with law enforcement officers during routine patrol, criminal investigations, and emergencies.Your background: You’re able to ace (and pass) an extensive screening processYou have a high school education, or equivalent (GED).You have excellent communication skills including active listening and empathyMilitary, or Law Enforcement experience preferred or You must have an unarmed security license. Security Officers shall have United States of America citizenship or verified legal alien status. At least twenty-one (21) years of age for unarmed guards.Security Officers shall have excellent oral and written communications skills and the ability to positively communicate with all members of the public.Security Officers shall have a demonstrated ability to work safely and constructively with persons who are homeless, experiencing mental health and/or behavioral health crises, affected by drugs and/or alcohol, and/or who may be unpredictable, dangerous, and/or service resistant.Security Officers shall have basic First Aid, AED, and CPR Training and certification.
