We are looking for a Reliability Sciences Engineering Director in the Electronic Systems (ES) sector’ US Defense organization. This role is responsible for all aspects of Reliability and Product Safety performance in support of US Defense business areas, including the application of Reliability and Product Safety processes, tools, talent acquisition, talent development, and program performance. You will be responsible for leading a team of reliability and safety experts, ~70 engineers strong, who support 1300+ Systems Engineers.
Specific responsibilities include:
  • Understand industry trends and best practices to ensure BAE Systems develops and maintains the capabilities required to provide technical discriminators.
  • Provide vision and roadmap that develops and maintains a high-performing organization.
  • Partner with the Functional Discipline Leads and Business Area Engineering Directors to ensure achievement of reliability and product safety engineering business objectives.
  • Attract and retain high-potential employees to support the business; resolve resource / staffing issues.
  • Identify, develop and staff critical skills required to meet business objectives.
  • Meet financial objectives (indirect expenses and labor utilization).
  • Develop strategies for improving and optimizing organizational performance.
  • Develop and lead continuous improvement activities and ensure adoption within the organization.
  • Advance diversity, equality and inclusion throughout the organization.
  • This position can be located at any large ES Sector facility.
Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.

#IJSRequired Education, Experience, & Skills
  • BS in Engineering with a minimum of 15 years of related DoD engineering leadership roles
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and Reliability and Product Safety expertise.
  • Ability to formulate a strategic vision, define and implement action plans to achieve goals in a changing environment
  • Sound understanding of Systems Engineering processes and Lifecycle Management (LCM) Framework and LCM reviews
  • Proven track record of developing high performance teams and affecting organization change
  • US Citizenship and ability to be granted a Secret security clearance by the Federal Government
  • Strong collaboration, integration, communication and leadership skills including effective written, verbal, and listening skills
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Current DoD Secret clearance or Higher
  • Understanding of AS9145, DFMEA’s and/or Six Sigma
  • Understanding of government policies and practices for Reliability and Product Safety
  • Experience with model based system engineering (MBSE)
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects with competing/conflicting resource requirements
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex problems


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $147300 - $250400

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
