Manufacturing Engineers develop and improve manufacturing processes by studying products and manufacturing methods. They provide engineering and manufacturing support expertise to enable on-time, lowest cost hardware delivery with performance and reliability that exceed customer expectations. They execute across all phases of a program including proposal capture, process development, transition to production, and production support. Manufacturing Engineers design, control, and improve the manufacturing process and system design through a collaborative effort with the value stream team. You would apply your skills to implement improvements that reduce cycle time and cost and improve productivity, while maintaining a high level of safety in the manufacturing environment and quality within the product.

What You Will Do

  • Lead Manufacturing Engineer responsible for LTAMDS Pre-planned Product Improvement (P3I) and Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP).  This includes production floor support to operations, Continuous Improvement efforts and Defect Prevention Team (DPT) support, Manufacturing Data Package (MDP) readiness, Design interface and/or Change Requests (CR), and Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE)

  • Capturing lessons learned on P3I builds and incorporating for LRIP

  • Training/Coaching junior engineers in the value stream

  • Manufacturing and/or producibility reviews of new designs and other Concurrent engineering requests and/or tasks

  • Investigating and driving resolution (including root cause and corrective action support) to production problems, including interfacing with suppliers/supplier quality and other value streams

  • Ability to generate management level presentations and present to stakeholders as required

  • Ability to work cross functionally with operations, maintenance, quality, test, and design

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advance Degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years’ experience

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Technical drawing interpretation, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Proficiency with CAD solid modeling tools (preference for CREO/ProE) and/or simulation tools

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Manufacturing/Enterprise Resource Planning (MRP/ERP) tools and systems (ie PRISM/SAP)

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Manufacturing Shop Floor Management tools and systems (ie cMES)

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Product Data Management tools and systems (ie Windchill/PDM)

  • Experience with military and industry standards

  • Experience with conducting safety/ergonomic assessments

  • Familiarity with standard material handling practices, especially as they pertain to Electrostatic Discharge mitigation requirements

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Powerpoint, Project, Word, etc…)

  • Proven written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills

  • Self-motivated and results oriented individual with an ability to work in a team environment and with minimal direct supervision

  • Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude with the ability to work across disciplines

  • Innovative mindset that drives continuous improvement and keeps pace with advances in technology

  • Excellent organizational skills with fine attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • ONSITE: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
