We want your knowledge and expertiseJob Summary and QualificationsThis Lactation Consultant position requires advanced understanding and ability to utilize the nursing process. Provides expert care in lactation management according to the ILCA Standards of Practice for IBCLC Lactation Consultants. Serves as an expert consultant to maternal-child staff, physicians and other healthcare professionals in the management of patients with complex breastfeeding problems. Participates in program development activities. Practices according to the family-centered maternity care model. What you will do in your role:You will demonstrate accountability for direct patient care, applies nursing process, You will prioritizes care and evaluates outcome caring for patients in the well-baby nurseryYou will participate and facilitates in the discharge planning process and cost containmentYou will document all aspects of patient care efficiently, accurately and per policy recommendations.You will participate in Performance Improvement activityWhat qualifications you will need: IBCLC (International Board of Lactation Consultant) Certification required upon hireTwo years of experience providing breastfeeding education requiredContinuing education in lactation and breastfeeding requiredRN license in the state of TexasBLS HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest is a 415+ bed acute care hospital that has been serving the north Houston communities for more than 40 years, providing a wide range of medical services including cardiology, maternity care, Level III NICU, pediatrics, bariatrics and neurology.
