Apprentice Technician-Level II

Primary Responsibility : Under close supervision, performs routine general maintenance and repair throughout the warehouse. Maintenance areas include electricity, plumbing, lift truck, refrigeration, ammonia, and carpentry. What You'll Do : o
Performs basic repair and adjustment of refrigeration system, doors, dock boards, pallet racks, sweepers, sprinkler systems, forklifts, pallet trucks, and electrical work in accordance with OSHA Standards. o
Cleans, changes, and lubricates bearings, gears, and other machinery parts using rags, brushes, and grease gun. o
Maintain tools and machinery in good condition and use tools and equipment carefully as instructed. o
Maintain batteries and chargers in working order in accordance withy OSHA Standard. o
Conducts test of safety equipment (Exit signs, fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, etc.) to ensure OHSA and operational standards. o
Maintains accurate preventive maintenance records. o
Follow attendance policy, show up show up for work on time and ready to work assigned shift. o
Assist answering security alarm calls as needed. o
Keeps work area clean and performs housekeeping duties as required. o
Performs related work and other job assignments as required. What Experience and Education You Need : o
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred o
Basic mechanical knowledge and aptitude required. o
Candidates with RETA courses preferred. However, as a condition of employment, selected candidates will be required to complete (4) courses during the first 12 months. o
HAZMAT trained candidates are preferred. However, as a condition of employment, successful candidates will be required to be trained in HAZMAT, obtain and maintain the certification. o
Must have basic level knowledge of OSHA PSM program o
1 - 3 years maintenance mechanic experience. What Could Set You Apart : o
Knowledge of general warehouse practices. o
Strong communication skills. o
Mathematical and documentation skills necessary. o
Ability to work with hands in mechanically oriented situations. o
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, as well as interpret pencil sketches and diagrams. o
Must be able to work flexible shifts if required, including on-call. o
Must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions: they must get along with co-workers without exhibiting behavioral extremes; perform work activities requiring reasoning, negotiating, instructing, persuading, or speaking with others; and respond appropriately to criticism from a supervisor. o
Knowledge of various types of equipment in maintenance trades. o
ISO knowledge preferred o
Knowledge of SAP preferred. o
Microsoft knowledge preferred. o
Forklift certification. Physical Requirements : o
May be required to tolerate working environment with inside controlled temperatures of -15 degrees Fahrenheit and outside ambient temperatures (including heat, cold and precipitation) o
Must tolerate heights up to 35 ft. and be able to access elevated platforms and catwalks o
Must be able to climb ladders and stairs o
Frequently required to stand; walk; push; pull; reach with hands and arms; stoop; kneel; and crouch o
Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds o
Must be able to use hand and power tools o
Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, and/or manipulate parts & tools o
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception. Either naturally or with the aid of eye glasses o
Able to work nights and weekends o
