The Opportunity: Procurement Agent

The Port of Virginia - Virginia Port Authority is seeking a Procurement Agent to process complex formal solicitation requests and requisitions, ensuring compliance with corporate guidelines, procurement processes, and external regulations.

What You'll Do: Responsibilities

  • Review and process contract-related requisitions for purchases over $100,000. Analyze requisitions for accuracy of requirements. Research contractual issues and resolve discrepancies.
  • Observe and ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations related to procurement.
  • Assist the Accounting team with match exceptions issues for paying invoices.
  • Conduct Asana, PeopleSoft, and Origami routine file maintenance.
  • Start the solicitation process for formal solicitation requests for creating contracts.
  • Draft and revise a variety of contracts, including but not limited to supplier agreements and service contracts.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers.
  • Contribute to the development of training materials and conduct Procurement training for Port of Virginia (POV) colleagues.
  • Maintain and update vendor SWaM information.
  • Process and maintain supplier scorecards, monitoring supplier performance.
  • Assist procurement leaders with developing, updating, and implementing procurement policies.
  • Ensures public records and information are managed, maintained, and disposed in accordance to the Library of Virginia retention and disposition schedules and the Virginia Port Authority records management policies and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with all security and environmental regulations and policies within work area at all times. This includes properly addressing issues through action or reporting matter and concerns to Manager.
  • Other task and assignments as directed.


Who You Are: Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field required.
  • Computer skills to include procurement systems (PeopleSoft) required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel and Outlook).
