POSITION SUMMARY:
The Human Resource Assistant will perform day-to-day HR activities of the company and provide administrative support and services to support effective and efficient operations. This position also helps with employee relations, training, and compliance. This position is full time, temporary, and is based at the Totowa, NJ plant. Reports to HR Manager II.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Maintainsaccurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, bulletin board updates and documentation.
Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc. refers more complex questions to appropriate HR staff or management.
Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
Performs periodic audits of HR files and records and ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
Provides clerical support to the HR department.
Processes required paperwork for employee transfers, changes in job classification, salary increases, and other related employment matters.
Acts as liaison between employees and benefits/payroll.
Conducts new hire orientation.
Runs human resource reports such as attendance, new hire, and turnover reports.
Assist recruiting as needed. Posts approved positions, screens applicants, schedules pre-employment testing, interviews, and presents pre-approved offers.
Assists with planning and execution of special events/HR related training.
Assists HR Manager II with special projects and research.
Responsible for tracking FMLA, Work Comp, work visas, etc.
Point of contact and assists union employees during benefit open enrollment and new hire benefit enrollment.
Conducts weekly safety observations and have open communication with employees to keep them highly engaged.
Coordinates with HR Administrator in other locations to support and be a backup for all sites as needed for employee on-boarding.
Leads internship program for Totowa site. Coordinates presentations with other sites.
Facilitates communication, interpret, and translate spoken or written information from one language to another (Spanish/English preferred).

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Associates degree in related field required.
Prior related experience preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Bi-lingual Spanish preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
Ability to maintain accuracy in a fast paced environment.
Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others.
Must possess the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn ADP, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
Excellent in problem solving.
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
High level of integrity and adhere to the highest ethical standards.
SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Manufacturing plant is large, open floor areas with loud machinery, requiring some areas for workers to wear ear protection to guard against noise. Workers are exposed to high temperatures during the summer months. Some work in cold environments during winter months.You will be exposed to a dusty work environment due to raw materials. Materials may contain allergens (eggs, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame seeds, milk, fish, shellfish, wheat).
Workers are required to wear masks, hair nets, or gloves to protect the product from possible contamination.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Plant runs 24x5. Typical work hours for this position are 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday but must be flexible to come in early or late as needed and work overtime hours if directed.
