Job Qualifications for NPC Quality Assurance ManagerDescriptionNavarro Pecan Company (“Navarro”) is searching for a QA Manager in Corsicana, TX.  Oversight and direction of all QC Laboratory Technicians and QC Laboratory functions. QA Manager is responsible for implementing best practices for food safety and quality procedures and meeting all regulatory, customer and Navarro Pecan Company requirements. The QA Manager will initially report to the President of Navarro Pecan Company.  The QA Manager will work collaboratively with SQF Practitioner and QC Coordinator.Navarro is a privately held company and has been in business since 1977. Navarro has been a leading manufacturer of shelled pecans in North America and has recently undergone a major capital expansion to transform our manufacturing process into the most modern, automated operation we are aware of in the pecan industry.  Navarro supplies into nearly every aspect of the pecan market, but is one of the largest global nut suppliers to the bakery, snack, ice cream, confectionary and cereal industry markets.  Navarro has implemented and maintained SQF Certification for Food Safety and Quality since 2011. What you'll do:Manage QC Laboratory and QC Laboratory Technicians, including product quality testing and external laboratory testing with 3rd party laboratoryExperience managing quality control employees is a plusResponsible for verifying Certificates of Analysis prior to shipment per customer specifications and company specificationsStay informed on changes to the SQF code and food legislation lawsLead monthly internal audits of SQF programs and systems and evaluate audit findings to implement corrective and preventative actionsProvide continuous improvements to manufacturing, food safety and quality systemsPrepare for and participate in Annual SQF Audits, customer audits and any regulatory audits, as well as corrective follow-up actionsMaintain SQF food safety and quality initiativesResponsible for and assist with documentation and maintenance of the Food Safety and Quality Systems including procedures, verify records, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Preventative Controls / Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (PC / HACCP), Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP)Assist in customer questionnaires and forms on Food Safety and Quality. Experience with customer document management systems, such as TraceGains, Repositrak, ICIX and etc. is a plusPartner with SQF Practitioner to conduct monthly quality meetings and quarterly food safety meetingsApply continuous improvement tools (SPC Lean Six Sigma) to drive product consistency and reduce wasteQualificationsWhat you'll need:Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or another relevant technical field is preferred5+ years relevant experience in Quality Assurance in food processing/manufacturing industryTrained and strong understanding in HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual)Trained in Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard, such as SQF or BRC, SQF preferred as Navarro Pecan Company is SQF Food Safety and Quality CertifiedExcellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and capacity to multitask efficientlyBilingual in Spanish/English is a plusExcellent interpersonal communication skills (both oral and written)Ability to work collaboratively across departmental boundariesDetail oriented take initiative and ability to work with a sense of urgency in a fast paced environmentMicrosoft Office Skill Sets, Statistical programs is a plusLean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience is a plusPosition will be required to work some weekends and some overtimeEmployee Type:Full timeLocation:Corsicana, TXJob Type:QA Manager / SQF PractitionerJob Posting Title:Quality Assurance Manager
