We are a true farm-to-table company with an integrated portfolio including food processing and food brands, phosphate mining, fertilizer manufacturing, farming, ranching and cattle production, and other enterprises related to agriculture.SummaryThe CI Specialist will drive efficient operations by reviewing current production and management practices and identifying areas that need improvement. The CI Specialist is accountable for developing and presenting the business case for each improvement opportunity identified for approval. They will work with other stakeholders in developing a plan and implementing changes required to realize benefits for each opportunity. The Specialist will ensure each improvement program is safe for Don Plant employees and environmentally sound in policy and regulatory compliance. The Specialist is responsible for sustaining changes made through the CI program and where necessary, establishing the needed KPIs to monitor progress.Key Responsibilities Strengthen and improve safety in the workplace through compliance with regulations, polices, procedures, required inspections, and training. Participate in safety programs outlined by the site.
Identify, validate, and prioritize opportunities that will reduce waste and increase performance in partnership with operations and engineering.
Analyze opportunities for feasibility, benefits, and implementation success through data reviews and process observation.
Develop implementation plans and a change management strategy for a successful implementation of any process improvement solution.
Responsible for training stakeholders on changes from process improvements, continuation of coaching to ensure sustainability.
Responsible for identifying the right KPI's (Key Performance Indicators) or develop new KPI's that will be used to evaluate the changes after implementation to measure success. Adhere to the Simplot Management of Change (MOC) process for any improvement that requires a MOC. Utilizes analytical skills that synthesizes complex or diverse information; Collects and researches data; Uses intuition and experience to complement data; Designs workflows and procedures. Demonstrate personal accountability and ownership, solicit input from others, provide feedback, coach hourly employees, and capitalize on training opportunities. Eectively encourage new and innovative ways of thinking.
Work collaboratively with Facility Operations, Maintenance, EH&S, Engineering, and Reliability Teams. At times, this role may support sister facilities within Simplot to standardize improvement changes. Typical Education Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4-year college/university preferred. Equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.Relevant Experience 5+ years' experience in manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of lean six sigma principles, black belt a plus. Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, power point, word, outlook). Strong motivational, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills are a must. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, regulatory requirement, technical operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to develop logical and mathematically sound arguments in the form of a business case. Ability to manage multiple priorities and understand the interrelations within an industrial facility. Ability to work collaboratively across all departments. Process improvement skills and the ability to teach and coach others preferred.
