If you want to advance your career and contribute to our vision of creating healthier communities, now and for generations to come, we want you to be a part of our team.Job SummaryIdentifies and abstracts cancer cases, provides analysis, and maintains data quality for accredited Cancer Registry.Location: RemoteJob DescriptionMinimum QualificationsEducation: Associate's degreeLicenses/Certifications: Certified Tumor Registrar certificateExperience / Knowledge / Skills:Five (5) years of oncology experience with at least three (3) years in abstracting.Excellent knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, and current cancer coding guidelines and cancer program standards from the Commission on Cancer.Ability to perform analysis using a personal computer and run registry reports.Principal AccountabilitiesReviews patient medical records to abstract data and accurately codes and enters data into cancer registry database.Attends cancer conferences and assists with analysis preparation and activities as required by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.Provides analysis of abstracted cancer data including trends in volume and delivery of care.Performs quality control as required by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and ensures data integrity and completeness of treatment and follow-up of patient care.Acts as a content expert for lower level abstractors.Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Models Memorial Hermann's service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.Other duties as assigned.
