Hazelwood, United States BOEING Full time
Job Description

At Boeing, we innovate and collaborate to make the world a better place. From the seabed to outer space, you can contribute to work that matters with a company where diversity, equity and inclusion are shared values. We're committed to fostering an environment for every teammate that's welcoming, respectful and inclusive, with great opportunity for professional growth. Find your future with us.

Boeing Global Services (BGS) Government Training Engineering (GTE) is seeking a Senior Real-Time Software Engineer / Architect to join their P-8 Poseidon - Training Systems - Vehicle Simulation team in Hazelwood, MO. Are you interested in learning about this cutting-edge aircraft platform while supporting the development of key training assets for the United States and our allies? If so, the P8 Training System Software team has an opportunity for you.

The P-8 Poseidon is the maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft of the future built on a commercial derivative airframe and outfitted to protect the waterways of the world. It performs a variety of missions, including anti-surface/submarine warfare, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance. The P-8 Training Systems team is responsible for designing, developing, building, and delivering numerous training solutions to the warfighters, both pilots and crew, operating this aircraft. The simulators developed are not off the shelf video games but rather high fidelity, tech heavy, fully immersive training machines that allow the warfighters to maintain their training and readiness for missions around the world.

Software is an integral part of each of these simulator products and these products are integral parts of the defense of multiple nations. If you come to work with us, you will be responsible for full life-cycle software development which means you will have a hand in defining the software requirements; designing, implementing, and testing the software; and supporting these products through delivery and service use in the field.

The selected applicant will be a member of a high performing, collaborative team and must be self-motivated with a strong work ethic, excellent time-management, a continuous learning mindset, and interpersonal skills to work across integrated teams. These teams use Agile methodologies to support all aspects of product development, including project management.

The applicant will be encouraged to actively help the team to continuously improve and develop innovative and creative solutions related to both products and processes.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Provide software requirements, design, implementation, test, and maintenance guidance to a team of software engineers working across multiple delivery streams
  • Develop and oversee implementation of technical roadmap for maturing product capability while maintaining support for existing deployed hardware and software baselines within the constraints of government program requirements
  • Provide mentorship and support development of less experienced engineers to build a robust and knowledgeable team
  • Support software engineering proposal activities for both current and emerging potential customers
  • Support Technical Design Review (TDR) and other peer review activities for other software engineers and adjacent systems engineering activities
  • Participate in test, troubleshooting, and release selloff activities as needed to ensure timely software deliveries
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on one or more aspects of the P-8 Training System Vehicle software products
