Amentum is seeking a Linux Engineer to join our team of passionate individuals in Chantilly, VA. In this role you will support challenging, mission-critical projects that make a direct impact on the Nation's security and intelligence mission. Your Impact: Our Linux Engineer will join a team of highly skilled technical professionals supporting the design, implementation, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of mission-critical systems and networks. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in Linux-based environments, system hardening, automation, and troubleshooting. We value individuals who are both detail-oriented and quick-thinking - able to respond to complex and evolving challenges with agility. This role requires the ability to rapidly adapt to shifting operational requirements, implement necessary system or configuration changes, and ensure the reliability, security, and performance of Linux systems across the enterprise. Responsibilities: Design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux-based systems and infrastructure for a number of networks. The Linux Engineer should identify areas to and implement where possible efforts to optimize system performance, security, and reliability, often handling tasks like server configuration, scripting, and system optimization. Requirements: Candidate should have experience in several of the following areas: * Experience building and deploying Linux based networks, integrating COTS solutions and connecting to networks using current technologies and a minimum of 8 years of experience in the following areas: * Automation (Ansible to scale of 20 devices) * Advanced bash scripting * Advanced Logging/SEIM experience * Linux Kernel knowledge / debugging * Docker * Hypervisor * various Linux flavors * Nginx * Certificate Management Clearance Required: * TS/SCI with poly Minimum Education: * Bachelors Minimum Years of Experience: * 8 Preferred: * Experience configuring: * Atlassian Products * Git products * AI/LLM * Splunk * Python Scripting * System Hardening * MySQL/PostgresSQL * Basic Networking * Windows Administration #javelin
