Job Description:
The Instructional Designer is responsible for developing innovative instructional programs and materials that align with the goals of the State Accounting Office (SAO) and meet learner needs. This role blends instructional design expertise, creativity, and strong communication skills to create engaging learning experiences. Collaboration with subject matter experts (SMEs) and stakeholders is essential to ensure the accuracy and relevancy of training content.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Training Needs Assessments and Audience Analyses to identify learning objectives and performance gaps.
- Design and develop comprehensive, 508-compliant instructional materials (e.g., course summary sheets, learning objectives, course outlines, storyboards, video scripts, job aids).
- Create online, interactive training materials in various formats, including job aids, instructor-led sessions, microlearning, videos, and eLearning courses.
- Develop SCORM-compliant webinars and eLearning courses using tools like Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, and Articulate Storyline.
- Administer assessments (quizzes, tests, simulations) to measure learner progress and analyze data for instructional effectiveness.
- Track and document project progress, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
- Collaborate with SMEs to gather content and ensure learning materials are accurate and relevant.
- Review and update curriculum and training content periodically.
- Stay current with industry trends in instructional design and adult learning theory.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Instructional Design, Education, Training and Development, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Experience with eLearning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia).
- Understanding of SCORM-compliance and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Strong knowledge of 508-compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM).
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
Desired Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field.
- Experience with Workday’s Learning Management System.
- Knowledge of gamification techniques to enhance learner engagement.
- Proficiency in multimedia content creation using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects).
Work Environment:
This role is hybrid, requiring in-office presence at least twice a week, with additional onsite time as needed based on role-specific and agency requirements.
