About the team:

The Platform Engineering team is dedicated to evolving both our products and our modes of customer engagement for the dynamic financial services landscape. Our platform vision is enabling a connected FIS. The full breadth of our offering is unlocked for Institutions, Merchants, eCommerce, FinTech's and Innovators - powered by platform capabilities built on the latest technologies and design patterns. The team works closely with business, product, and operation teams to accelerate our platform journey. We are looking for hands-on leaders that can drive innovation while implementing industry leading platform capabilities.

* NOTE: Candidates must reside in the Greater Seattle area. The team will come together for project kickoffs, key Agile ceremonies, joint design sessions, and other meetings that will require in-person attendance. *

About the role:

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for solutioning, designing, and developing capabilities for the FIS Platform. The Platform Delivery team works closely in conjunction with the Product Management, Enablement, Architecture, and Platform Services teams to build a platform for exciting new products and services. You will lead a SCRUM team of developers and engineers who are responsible for designing, developing, and delivering these shared capabilities, ensuring they meet functional and non-functional requirements such as scalability, reliability, and performance.

What you will be doing:

This role is highly challenging, yet satisfying, and provides a fantastic opportunity to lead the platform journey at FIS:
  • Lead and manage a team of developers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support.
  • Design and develop software solutions
  • Develop and integrate APIs for third-party services and internal systems.
  • Ensure the security and scalability of applications through proper architecture and design.
  • Collaborate with other teams, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure that applications meet business requirements.
  • Evaluate project constraints to find alternatives, alleviate risks, and perform process re-engineering if required.
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation for applications and systems.
  • Troubleshoot and debug software issues and work with other developers to resolve issues.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure that applications remain relevant and effective.
  • Conducting security audits to identify areas of improvement.
  • Guiding the team through technical issues and challenges.


What you will need:
  • Curiosity and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity and complexities
  • 10 years of experience in software design and development with minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a Technical Lead role
  • Significant knowledge of software development and delivery pipelines, software testing, databases and technical documentation.
  • Experience with agile and scrum methodologies and DevOps environments with high degree of automation of CI/CD pipelines, build promotions and code quality testing
  • Be able to architect solutions using industry standard methodologies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management in an organized, professional manner and team management.
  • Hands-on experience across all major areas of the software development processes with about 50-60% coding responsibilities as needed.
  • Expert knowledge of Microservices Architecture and design, REST APIs, Security, Testing, and deployments in high throughput environments
  • Advanced knowledge of JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, TypeScript, NodeJS, NestJS, and Material design.
  • Familiarity with monorepo based development toolsets such as Nx.
  • Experience of working in DevOps environments with high degree of automation of CI/CD pipelines, build promotions and code quality testing
  • Expertise of using Kubernetes and Dockers for deployments in development, QA, and Production
  • Experience with Cloud native databases such as PostgreSQL, CosmosDB etc.


Educational requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering or related discipline or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience. Post-graduate education preferred.


Added bonus if you have:
  • Experience in financial services and fast paced innovation team highly desirable
  • Knowledge of FIS' products and services.
  • Knowledge of financial services industry or FinTechs.
  • Knowledge and experience with Banking or Card as-a-Service platforms.
