CV Resources has partnered with a dynamic and rapidly growing organization specializing in sustainable food production in the search for a Controller. Our client prides themselves on delivering high-quality food products while maintaining a commitment to sustainability and community engagement. This position is hybrid, with a minimum of 3x a week onsite in Eugene, OR.

Position Overview: We are seeking a driven and experienced Controller with expertise in manufacturing and cost accounting. This role presents an excellent opportunity for an Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller looking to advance their career in a thriving food production environment. The Controller will oversee all financial activities of the company, supervise a team of 3 accounting professionals, and contribute to the strategic direction of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of financial reporting, including month-end and year-end close processes as directed by the VP of Finance.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance and enhance internal controls.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget and operational metrics.
  • Lead the costing and inventory valuation processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Collaborate with operations and procurement teams to optimize manufacturing costs and efficiencies.
  • Prepare and present financial statements and reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives to support business growth and operational excellence.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in accounting roles, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing accounting principles, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory management.
  • Experience in the food production industry is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Sage) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Hands-on attitude and willingness to pitch in and contribute to the success of a small company environment.
