Join our team As a Systems Engineer, you will be using your skills and expertise to research, architect, model, simulate, test, certify and improve cutting edge products and services. You'll be developing complex system architectures within contextual modeling platforms, ushering them from operational concept through preliminary and detailed design, simulation, and test using progressive tools. As a cross-functional engineer, you are in charge of system-level ownership of new products and processes through the product lifecycle.

As the Principal Systems Engineer (Hydraulics), you will lead the design, development, and integration of aircraft hydraulic systems for the program. Your expertise will ensure that hydraulic systems perform reliably across a range of demanding conditions. In this role, you will develop complex system architectures, manage integration efforts, conduct system-level testing, and collaborate across disciplines to deliver solutions that meet stringent technical and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Architect Hydraulic Systems: Lead the development of system architectures from conceptual design through detailed engineering.
  • Manage System Integration: Ensure seamless integration of hydraulic systems with other aircraft subsystems, including flight controls and landing gear.
  • Develop and Manage Requirements: Parse, derive, allocate, and verify hydraulic system requirements using industry-standard tools such as DOORS and Rhapsody.
  • Conduct Risk Analysis and Mitigation: Identify risks associated with hydraulic system performance and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Perform Verification and Validation (V&V): Lead V&V efforts to ensure systems meet all regulatory and technical standards.
  • Lead Certification Activities: Oversee certification efforts for hydraulic systems, ensuring compliance with FAA and DoD standards.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work with engineers, program managers, and other stakeholders to meet project goals and deadlines.

Who You Are

You are a systems engineer with deep expertise in hydraulic systems. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are driven to solve complex challenges in aerospace.

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in System Engineering or related discipline and typically 14 or more years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
  • Thorough understanding of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required

Preferred:

  • Advanced Experience with requirements management and system modelling tools, such as DOORS, Rhapsody, NoMagic, MATLAB
  • Knowledge of industry standard mechanical design principles, to include, but not limited to requirements management, Model Based System Engineering (MBSE)
  • Experience or certification in INCOSE standards
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
  • Experience leading baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of high impact trade studies and other measures
  • Thorough understanding of establishing and tracking key Technical Performance Measurements (TPM)

SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
