Product Testing Engineer

As a Senior Product Testing Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the evaluation of product samples. This includes research and development of all engineering test plans including test procedures, scientific and engineering measurement equipment, test fixture resource development and procurement, and standard operating procedures. You’ll evaluate and certify the engineering test capabilities of Best Buy Exclusive Brands suppliers and third-party labs. You’ll also review and oversee tests and results. You’ll oversee closed loop corrective action for issues found during the review process. You’ll train product testers, both internal and external, on Best Buy’s test methodology.

What you’ll do
  • Research and define the procedures, technical measurements and observations that must be performed to assure a given product sample meets the established performance criteria
  • Develop automated testing processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness of test groups to meet schedule and roadmap requirements for new product releases
  • Execute test plans and perform measurements in accordance with the technical specifications and usability requirements to produce accurate assessments
  • Review supplier and third-party test results, and oversee their testing using both internal and external resources
  • Train members of the local team, global test team, supplier test teams and third-party test teams
  • Perform evaluations and certifications of supplier and third-party engineering test capabilities

Basic qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field of study.
  • 4 or more years of experience in product functionality and/or performance testing and evaluation
  • 4 or more years of technical issue resolution and troubleshooting experience
  • 4 or more years of experience using tools such as LabView or other automation tools for automating hardware related tests
  • 4 or more years of technical project or engineering project management experience
  • 4 or more years of experience in electronic circuit design, assembly and implementation
  • 4 or more years of experience in the use, setup and configuration of precision electronic engineering measurement equipment
  • 4 or more years of experience using Microsoft applications such as MS Project, Visio,
  • Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • 4 or more years of experience using Microsoft Windows OS and associated PC hardware

Preferred qualifications
  • 4 or more years of experience using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth test equipment (IE protocol analyzers, etc.)
