JOB SUMMARY: Are you ready to dive into the world of thermal research? Join us as a Thermal Research Intern and gain valuable hands-on experience in evaluating and testing thermal interface materials (TIMs). This includes working with cutting-edge liquid metal TIMs for cooling integrated circuit (IC) modules like CPUs, GPUs, and MCMs in computing electronics. Your role will support our Senior Research Chemist in conducting thermal testing, particularly using the ASTM D-5470 method, to obtain crucial data on thermal conductivity and resistance. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (COMPETENCIES): Test Sample Preparation: Set up devices for thermal testing. Measurement Tasks: Assess viscosity and density of liquid metal TIMs. Conduct Thermal Testing: Use advanced thermal testers for precise measurements. Data Collection and Analysis: Gather and analyze data on thermal conductivity and resistance. Power Cycling Tests: Perform tests on liquid metals and alloys, studying their morphology. Data Documentation: Record and evaluate data from testing processes. REQUIREMENTS: All interns must be active college students who have completed their freshman year and are enrolled in courses for the Fall semester of 2025. Pursuing a degree in Science or engineering majors are preferred. Desired Skills: Background in chemical, electrical, or mechanical engineering is advantageous. Experience in thermal research or mechanical engineering testing, and familiarity with thermal interface materials, is preferred. Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); skills in computer science, materials science, or chemistry are beneficial. Personal Attributes: Team-oriented, proactive, and eager to learn and assist.
