We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Microsoft Solutions Architect to spearhead SIM tooling services for the Executive Director's Office (EDO). The EDO is a pivotal component of the Strategic Investment Management (SIM) office within the VHA Office of Health Informatics (OHI), focusing on supporting VHA's health IT needs through effective business transformation and change management.

Job Summary:

The Lead Microsoft Solutions Architect will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive tooling solutions that leverage the full Microsoft ecosystem to improve data management and business processes. This role requires extensive experience in program management, tooling, and automation, with a strong focus on Microsoft technologies such as SharePoint, Dynamics 365, Power Platform Suite, Power Query, Dataflows, Azure DevOps, GitHub, and cloud resources. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of Microsoft infrastructure, Dataverse, environments, and the interconnectivity of applications and tools within the Microsoft ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy:
  • Lead and manage SIM tooling services for the EDO, ensuring all initiatives align with VHA's strategic goals and business needs.
  • Develop strategic plans for the integration and utilization of Microsoft technologies to enhance organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Solution Architecture & Development:
  • Architect, design, and implement comprehensive solutions using Microsoft technologies, including but not limited to Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps), SharePoint, Dynamics 365, and Azure services.
  • Leverage Microsoft Dataverse and manage environments to ensure optimal interconnectivity between applications and tools.
  • Be prepared for potential development in customized workflows and applications utilizing Power Pages, Liquid, HTML, and JavaScript to meet specific organizational needs.
  • Project Coordination & Management:
  • Utilize Azure DevOps to coordinate various tooling activities, ensuring efficient workflow, resource allocation, and adherence to timelines.
  • Implement GitHub or other Microsoft resources to manage and coordinate tooling development projects.
  • Employ project management methodologies to monitor project progress, ensuring transparency, accountability, and successful delivery.
  • Reporting & Communication:
  • Provide regular updates and comprehensive reports to executive leadership, highlighting key achievements, potential risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication channels between the EDO, VHA Stakeholders, VHA IT funding oversight, and other federal entities.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure successful project implementation and integration of tooling solutions.
  • Support the EDO in evaluating business needs and ensuring alignment with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and other federal entities.
  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation:
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices within the Microsoft ecosystem to continually enhance tooling services.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement, recommending and implementing solutions accordingly.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in program management with a focus on tooling and automation.
  • Proven experience with the Microsoft ecosystem, including SharePoint, Dynamics 365, Power Platform Suite, Power Query, Dataflows, Azure DevOps, GitHub, and cloud resources.
  • Extensive experience in architecting, developing, and implementing solutions using Microsoft technologies.
  • Deep understanding of Microsoft infrastructure, Dataverse, environments, and the interconnectivity of applications and tools.
  • Experience with Power Pages, Liquid, HTML, and JavaScript for developing cloud-based resources and operations.
  • Skills:
  • Strong expertise in solution architecture and systems integration.
  • Excellent project management skills with proficiency in using Azure DevOps and GitHub.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with federal regulations and standards is a plus.
  • Certifications:
  • Relevant Microsoft certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Solution Architect Expert, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are highly desirable.
