POSITION TITLE: Business Analyst

REPORTS TO: School Business Administrator or Designee

JOB GOAL: This job requires exceptional problem solving, interpersonal skills, and the ability to acquire knowledge of community interactions, district operations, policies, and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in business administration or related degree, or 3 or more years working in a school business office/finance setting.
Position Purpose
Under the direction of the School Business Administrator or designee, the Business Analyst will aid the business office in; procuring products and services through the procurement process; assisting with account payable and preparing, maintaining, and reporting respective information for the district.

This position will provide business services, in a timely and efficient manner, and supports the district's delivery of educational services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Business Analyst shall:
  • Assist with maintaining and monitoring district financial records as related to HR/Pension, Benefits, and Payroll.
  • Assist with procuring State and Federal grants (ESEA, IDEA, NJSIG, etc)
  • Process all necessary documentation to secure federal and state reimbursements.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a centralized data system including all necessary procedures, forms, and files.
  • Manage, coordinate, and integrate procurement work.
  • Ensure that contract documentation is provided in a timely manner ensuring accuracy and consistency with generally accepted accounting principles and respective public contracting law.
  • Prepare and interpret procurement requests and current statements of allocations and disbursements of budgeted funds.
  • Perform audit and accounting work involved in recording expenses.
  • Compile and prepare various internal financial reports or statistical compilations for
district management purposes.
  • Conduct investigations, examinations, and other inquiries of accounts, records, and reports.
  • Apply and adhere to New Jersey laws and regulations for accounting and contracting in school districts.
  • Use computers and/or electronic equipment to fulfill job functions.
  • Display the highest ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies associated with the school.
  • Protect confidentiality of records and information about staff, and use discretion when sharing any such information within legal confines.
  • Adhere to federal statutes and regulations, New Jersey school law, construction codes, State Board of Education rules and regulations, Board of Education policies and procedures, and contractual obligations.
  • Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by a supervisor, and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.
Additional Duties
Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the School Business Administrator's office and school district operations.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Contractual employee. Salary will be determined by contract based on years of experience.

EVALUATION: Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of non-certified personnel.
