Job Summary and Qualifications

The Speech Therapist provides high-quality, patient-centered care by developing and conducting individualized therapy programs for patients with communication, cognitive, and/or swallowing impairments. As a member of the health care team, the Speech Therapist performs comprehensive patient assessments and establishes appropriate treatment goals. The Speech Therapist serves as an educator to patients, families, students and colleagues.

What you will do in this role:

    1. Responsible for clinical management of the patient.
    1. Assures satisfaction of customers (patients, visitors, physicians and staff), upholding ICARE values
    1. Participates and understands Quality Management activities.
    1. Demonstrates effective communication skills.
    1. Demonstrates understanding of hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
    1. Promotes cost effective unit operations.
    1. Documents care utilizing the appropriate tools.

    8 Maintains competencies in clinical areas and is responsible for professional growth and development.

    1. Complies with professional, regulatory, governmental and departmental standards.
    1. Supervises students, (optional)

What qualifications you will need:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Virginia

  • Speech therapy graduate with a minimum of a Master's Degree from a CAA accredited school and ASHA certified

    AHA Healthcare Provider CPR

  • Previous experience in an acute care facility preferred; new graduates considered
