We are currently seeking a full time Exercise Physiologist to join our team. This position will provide coverage at our Hanover center.

Responsibilities include:
  • Practicing in a clinical rehabilitation setting addressing chronic medical conditions through supervised and guided exercise prescription and programming.
  • Providing support for clients transitioning from physical therapy while developing exercise programs to improve overall health and wellness.
  • Working closely with many health care professionals (i.e., physicians, nurses, physical, occupational and speech therapists) to coordinate treatment in rehabilitation center.
  • Conducting proper evaluation, protocol implementation, individual program development, and adaptive exercise training services with clients.
  • Evaluating strengths and weaknesses of pool and fitness members, recording the progression through program stages, and recommending/implementing protocol or program changes as indicated under established guidelines.
  • Leading and instructing large and small group exercise classes (land and aquatics).
  • Assisting manager and/or coordinator in all areas including customer service, facility operations, communication/promotion, program development, and member/user orientation.
  • Monitoring exercise areas (inclusive of pool where available) to ensure a safe and quality environment for all members and users.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Successful candidates will possess:
  • College degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or related field from a CAAHEP accredited program required. Master's degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or related field preferred.
  • Current ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist certification required.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Demonstrated work experience in a fitness, medical and/or physical rehabilitative environment. Including demonstrated experience in physical fitness assessment, risk stratification, medical terminology, exercise prescription, exercise programming, relevant physiology, and anatomy. Additional demonstrated work experience in assessment of fitness members and monitoring of individual exercise programs.
  • Two or more years of experience in a clinical setting prescribing exercise for individuals living with chronic diseases and/ or neurological disabilities preferred.
  • Group exercise certification and/or experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to function as a member of a team.
  • Ability to understand and react effectively to the unique needs of customers in the age groups served.
  • Basic computer skills (i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to demonstrate all exercise components, protocols, and equipment usage.
  • Ability to travel to Sheltering Arms outpatient clinics as required.
