We are embarking on an ambitious initiative to completely reimagine the customer journey and build an omni-channel digital platform that enables a seamless transaction process whether online or in-store in collaboration with a large online retail partner.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and driven Principal Product Manager to lead the re-platforming of our end-to-end auto buying experience. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role where you will define and execute the product vision and strategy for a game-changing initiative.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Vision and Strategy: Develop and champion a compelling multi-year product vision and strategy for your product portfolio and team.
- Customer Focus: Deeply understand customer needs and pain points throughout the auto buying journey, translating them into innovative product solutions.
- Requirements Definition: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (architect, engineering, design, sales, support, partners, vendors and marketing) to gather and prioritize product requirements, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical feasibility.
- Roadmap Development: Create and maintain a prioritized product roadmap, balancing short-term deliverables with long-term strategic objectives.
- Execution and Delivery: Drive execution of the product roadmap, collaborating closely with architect, engineering, design, and QA to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.
- Performance Analysis: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and analyze product performance, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.
- Market Research: Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies in the automotive retail space.
- Market Readiness: Oversee the execution of the product launch plan, coordinating across teams to ensure a smooth and successful release to market.
- Travel & External Engagement: Travel to engage with customers, partners, industry events, conducting market research, and collaborating with distributed teams. (20-40% travel).
- Deep Automotive Expertise: 10+ years of product management experience in the automotive industry, with a strong understanding of the end-to-end auto buying process, including but not limited to inventory management, digital retail, in-store process, financing, and contracting.
- Proven Leadership: Demonstrated ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams without direct authority, driving consensus and achieving results.
- Strategic Acumen: Exceptional strategic thinking and planning skills, with a track record of defining and delivering successful product strategies.
- Communication Excellence: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Technical Proficiency: Solid understanding of technology and software development methodologies, enabling effective collaboration with engineering teams.
- Agile Mindset: Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment, embracing iterative development and continuous delivery.
- Start-up Drive: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, demonstrating a bias for action and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities.
- Organized and Results-Oriented: Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a strong focus on execution and achieving measurable results.
