Job Summary:

It is the responsibility of the Hemodialysis Technician to provide direct and indirect patient and technical services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in the dialysis unit. The Hemodialysis Technician is also responsible to transport patients, assist the Registered Nurse(s), and perform clerical duties as assigned. The incumbent is guided by knowledge and training in the techniques of hemodialysis and by verbal and/or written instruction.

Responsibilities:
  • Sets up and operates the hemodialysis machine under the supervision of the RN
  • Provides direct patient care, including initiating monitoring/discontinuing dialysis, and meeting hygiene and nutritional needs
  • Performs and documents results of technical duties such as monitoring of water treatment equipment and other related functions
  • Mixes solutions according to formulas
  • Primes dialyzer and dialyzer bloodlines with the appropriate solution
  • Takes and records patients' pre-dialysis and post-dialysis vital signs
Requirements:
  • Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician certification
  • 18 Months Hemodialysis experience
  • At least 2 years' experience in a health related field
  • High School Diploma required
