Job Description JOB FUNCTION / PURPOSE The Director of Environmental Health & Safety, reporting into the Sr. Vice President of Environmental Health & Safety, is responsible to ensure adherence to the standards & processes within the company, and act as the ‘go to person’ for Environmental Health & Safety, assisting leadership teams across the companies to meet their various responsibilities. They will engage and lead a group of Environmental Health & Safety professionals and provide coaching, mentoring, training and expert advice to all levels. Deliverables: As Director of Environmental Health & Safety, you will need to demonstrate ability to deliver the following: Work with the Sr VP EH&S and Executive Leadership Team to develop the company’s culture of high performance in Environmental Health & Safety Inspire and engage leadership to deliver high performance in Environmental Health & Safety Ensure consistent/standardised approach to Environmental Health & Safety initiatives with other areas of the business Motivate and drive the network of site Environmental Health & Safety teams to provide the required level of commitment, ownership and presence to have robust safety programs in place at all facilities Seek opportunities for sharing best practice & improvement ideas from internal and external sources Investigating current and future Environmental Health & Safety needs, communicating them appropriately and translating them into strategic and tactical requirements Leading audit, assurance, compliance processes, to rectify deficiencies, concerns and non-compliances, with actions being tracked to ensure delivery Developing and cultivating technical expertise and knowledge across the business by sharing lessons learned, best practices and knowledge Ensuring a robust learning exercise occurs for incidents, near misses and injuries Develop and provide training at all levels to ensure continuous improvement of Environmental Health & Safety Undertaking data analysis and reporting performance of Environmental Health & Safety program to the management and leadership teams Provide subject matter expertise in dealing with Health & Safety regulatory agencies (state & federal), including accident investigation and onsite inspection activities Oversee workers’ compensation insurance program and claims handling Advise and oversee legal matters pertaining to incidents and accidents Manage fleet safety programs Support overall EH&S programs and perform other duties as required Capabilities: Managing in complex and diverse environments Clear communicator, effective presentation, and written skills Enthusiasm for continuous improvement and problem solving A strong leader and team player who acts with integrity and respect for others Energized through engagement with people, is visible and communicative, and respects the broad range of capabilities required in a business to deliver success Committed to personal growth and development – their own and for others Competent with Microsoft Office products, and strong familiarity with EH&S software platforms. Requirements: Minimum of 10 years prior Environmental Health & Safety leadership Ability to develop and implement sustainable and scalable business processes Professional background, knowledge and experience in all aspects of Environmental Health & Safety Be self-aware, an excellent listener, team player, collaborator and communicator Have experience with influencing senior leaders and stakeholders Ability to lead and drive cultural change through process and capability improvement Auditing Qualifications and Experience Be comfortable with risk and in working in ambiguous situations Be excellent at working with others to deliver goals across an organization e.g. inspiring, building trust, problem solving, planning, innovating, advocating, listening and coaching Experience of dealing with federal and state regulatory agencies Project Management and Risk Management expertise and knowledge Have developed a learning culture with tools and processes around Environmental Health & Safety in previous roles Certified Safety Professional (CSP) -Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred Requirements An Equal Opportunity Employer.
