Purpose Job Description To provide nursing care to hospitalized patients which involves the diagnosis and treatment of response to actual and/or potential health problems through such means as case finding, health teaching, counseling, and provision of care supportive to or restorative of life and wellbeing.

Specific Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assess and monitor patient s condition and initiates appropriate nursing intervention including direct patient care
  • Plans and evaluate the delivery of nursing care utilizing the nursing process; formulates and implements a plan of care based on identified needs; sets priorities and delivers or directs care to meet patient needs
  • Collaborate with other health professionals in the care of assigned patients, including patients/so teaching and discharge planning
  • Assessment of patient utilizing ESI
  • Assist with diagnostic test/procedures and administer, return of medications according to policy. Evaluate patient response and make appropriate revisions in the patient s plan of care
  • Recognize emergency situations and delivers care according to protocols; assume personal responsibility for safe work habits and patient safety; utilizes/enforces universal precautions
  • Maintain professional competence through participation in continuing education; annual mandatory classes; maintain BCLS, ACLS and PALs certification
  • Participate in performance assessment/improvement activities as assigned
  • Perform unit management activities in absence of HN or as assigned
  • Participate in the accreditation process
  • Participates in QI and discharge planning activities
  • Provides direct care to patients in the following age group: Infant, Toddler, Preschooler, Young Adult and Geriatrics
Minimum Qualifications A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State; and Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
