The Oncology Clinical Technician provides basic nursing care under the supervision and delegation of a registered professional nurse. The Oncology Clinical Technician performs tasks for which he/she is competent, as evaluated and documented through a skills check list.
Essential Functions:

Staff may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
Under the supervision and delegation of the registered nurse and in accordance with York Hospital policies and procedures:
- Provides care related to activities of daily living and comfort.
- Safely transfers and ambulates patient as needed, to include 1 and 2-person assist and/or use of gait belt.
- Obtains fingerstick blood sugars.
- Accurately measures vital signs, pulse oximetry, and weights.
- Collects specimens per policy and performs phlebotomy as needed.
- Responds immediately to call lights and emergency scenarios.
- Recognizes need and is proactive in assisting peers.
- Conducts purposeful rounding to meet patient needs and ensure a safe environment.
- Maintains infection control standards per policy.
- Communicates results, observations, and changes in patient condition to nursing.
- Assists in rooming of ambulatory patients, as well as room turnaround/disinfecting.
- Documents care provided per policy.
- Performs data order entry for outside orders.
- Reorders and restocks med room, treatments bays, and exam rooms as needed.
- Maintains patient confidentiality in all communication.
- Effectively communicates in all interactions with staff, other departments, providers, patients, and families.

- Current registered Certified Nursing Assistant or Licensed Nursing Assistant in the state of Maine or approved compact state.
- BLS within 60 days of hire and maintain while in position.
