About the Organization

Senior Resource Association (SRA) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that provides services to support and advocate for independence and dignity of older adults throughout Indian River County. Our organization was established in 1974 to provide services and programs that promote an active, healthy, and independent lifestyle for older adults. We provide and manage the Meals on Wheels of Indian River County programs, Adult DayAway programs, In-Home Services, and Transportation for seniors and their families. With two locations in Vero Beach and Sebastian, SRA operates the only state-licensed Adult DayAway programs in the County. Our goal is to keep seniors healthy and in their own homes for as long as safely possible. Due to memory loss, brain injury, food-insecurity, and/or lack of socialization, all families have a special need for their loved one that leads them to Senior Resource Association. SRA is recognized as the lead agency in Indian River County for homebound and community-based services for seniors and adults aged 18 and older.

In addition, SRA is the county-designated public transportation provider. Our fixed-route buses provide service along 15 routes throughout Indian River County, and part of St. Lucie County. Our demand-response service picks up the elderly and disabled at their specified origination point and takes them where they need to go in the community.

Primary Function:

Under the supervisor and coordination of the Meals on Wheels Manager, the MOW Congregate Site Coordinator oversees the of day-to-day operating procedures at various locations in Indian River County, including but not limited to: receiving and verifying daily meal delivery, coordination of Meals on Wheels congregate volunteers/clients, and health and sanitation of locations to IRC health department standards.

Principal Responsibilities:

These are examples of the type of work performed. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change, or rescind work assignments as needed.

  • Completion of a DOEA 701C Congregate Meals Assessment for all applicants and recipients to ensure program compliance

  • Follow the procedures established by Senior Resource Association to validate that participants are registered and authorized for consumption of C-1 meals

  • Facilitate inspections of congregate site locations on quarterly basis. This inspection will include the completion of SRA’s Compliance Review Form

  • Management of Advisory Council made up of representatives from each congregate nutrition site, or a site council at each congregate nutrition site. The nutrition advisory council shall advise the nutrition program director on all matters relating to the delivery of nutrition services within the program area

  • Develop and maintain relationships with partnering social service resources in provision of necessary services. Such efforts shall include joint planning, sharing of information, and negotiation of joint funding agreements in operation of programs for the elderly.

  • Receiving and verifying daily meal delivery from the contracted vendor

  • Recording daily temperature forms at all congregate site locations according to scheduled delivery and meal distribution

  • Maintain documents that include signatures from each client verifying meal count on a daily or weekly congregate meal service log or on a daily or weekly basis

  • Assist MOW Manager with Nutrition Program’s monitoring in relation to congregate site locations

  • Assist with evaluating congregate site client quality assurance surveys to ensure participant satisfaction

  • Assist MOW manager with coordination of nutrition counseling for congregate clients

  • Manage Meals on Wheels Congregate Volunteers and clients at congregate locations

  • Assist with home delivered meals drivers when needed

  • Ensure sanitization and preparation of congregate locations for daily meal distribution to health department regulations

  • Follow all policies and procedures of Senior Resource Association and DOEA.

  • Other duties as assigned, including assisting in emergency situations as needed.

Ability to advocate, including the ability to sue on the individual’s behalf.

  • Strong management skills, with emphasis on active listening, effective communication, organization and positive mentoring
  • Strong mediation/problem-solving skills
  • Computer proficiency
  • Must support the mission, goals, and objectives of the Senior Resource Association

Other Job Characteristics:

Excellent record keeping/organizational skills. Be available to work non-traditional hours (nights and weekends) if needed. Computer skills should include but not be limited to word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds. Physical ability to manage stairs, walk to senior residences and enter and exit your vehicle 16 times in a two-hour period.

  • Frequent use of computers, standard software applications, and various office equipment necessary to complete work

  • Some travel between locations

License / Certifications:

Training and certification on the DOEA assessment instrument and care plan forms are required for this position. All Staff conducting assessments must complete the DOEA web-based training and receive certificate of completion before being eligible to conduct assessments. Annual training in areas of nutrition, food service management, and prevention of food borne illness. Must be trained and complete food safety certification prior to assuming food service assignments.

  • Valid Driver’s license, proof of car insurance and reliable transportation.
  • Level II Background Check with DOEA eligibility.

Pay Rate: Starts at $18.75/hr (Non-Exempt)

Full-Time, M-F, 40hr/week
