JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Cyber Security, or another related field, or a combination of experience in the Information Technology field with an emphasis in networking and education may be used to meet the Bachelor's Degree requirement.

Certification or Licensure: None required. Certifications in current technologies and network applications are highly desirable.

Skills: Knowledge of all seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS) including commitment to students, knowledge of the job, professionalism, interpersonal, communication, organization, and problem-solving. Extensive understanding of networking concepts; experience and knowledge of using network troubleshooting equipment and tools, switching, and routing protocols. Ability to follow standard operating procedures, write detailed reports, write technical specifications, and user instructions, ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. High Performing characteristics: Creative thinker, practices effective multiple problem-solving strategies, works exceptionally well across functional teams, shows consistency and persistent effort, and creates exceptional customer experiences.

Work Experience: Professional background spanning five or more years of work-related experience in managing, developing, or supporting a local and wide area network as the primary area of responsibility.

PRIMARY DUTY:

This position is responsible for supporting the Instructional and Administrative functions of the Richmond County School System by providing and maintaining the infrastructure operations of the local and wide area network as well as performing advanced technical responsibilities including, but not limited to designing, developing network and industry security standards, researching technology alternatives, and planning network capabilities to support district goals and operational requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Configure, maintain, and support the Richmond County School System Local and Wide Area Network(s).

2. Configure, according to Standard operating procedures, network electronics, wireless access points, switches, routers, and other local and wide area network-enabled equipment.

3. Diagnose and resolve complex network issues to ensure optimal performance and reliability by conducting root cause analysis for network outages and implementing corrective actions.

4. Configure, enforce and maintain firewall security policies and access controls based on industry best practices and organizational requirements.

5. Ensure the integrity of data flow within the network by employing systems and analysis tools to monitor and address network traffic, performance, and suspicious activity.

6. Coordinate and communicate with various service providers to ensure all components of the network are operational.

7. Create and maintain detailed network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.

8. Prepare reports on network performance, security incidents, and recommendations for improvement.

9. Practice network asset management by recording and maintaining a comprehensive list of network assets, configuration documentation, and tracking of assets lifecycle.

10. Develop and Create project plans to outline and manage tasks, timelines, and resources.

11. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, software developers, and IT support staff, to ensure seamless integration of network infrastructure with other systems.

12. Keep abreast of emerging networking technologies, standards, and best practices, and evaluate, and recommend new tools and technologies to enhance network capabilities.

13. Evaluate and suggest new tools and technologies to improve network capabilities.

14. The employee shall carry out such other and further duties, whether specifically listed above or not, as are assigned or required by such employee's supervisor, other appropriate school personnel, law, board policy, administrative regulation, department handbook, as are reasonably necessary to the efficient operation of the school system and its mission.
