Overview

SUMMARY:  

Director of Quality coordinates, organizes, and leads the quality assurance teams within manufacturing and distribution facilities.  Director of Quality is responsible for conducting quality assurance and control on all plants and distribution centers, and other entities in and associated to our company. Director of Quality is in charge of developing and determining testing methodologies/standards, instructing personnel on processes and procedures, and ensuring that products go through rigorous testing inbound to our company and before they ship to our customers.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. The Company reserves the right to add to, delete, change, or modify the essential duties and responsibilities at any time.   All work is to be completed with minimum supervision and in accordance with Company standards.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assures quality products and processes by establishing and enforcing quality standards and testing of all materials and products.
  • Oversees  the Laboratory facilities, establishing and maintaining standardized procedures for testing and compliance with quality standards, ensuring accurate test results, adherence to safety protocols.
  • Establishes quality and reliability standards by studying industry requirements, product and customer requirements with leadership members, commercial management, production operators, technicians, and engineers.
  • Develops and manages raw material quality standards by studying manufacturing and engineering requirements, conferring and negotiating standards with suppliers, and devising testing methods and procedures.
  • Implements in-process product inspection standards by studying manufacturing methods and devising testing methods and procedures.
  • Establishes standards for the disposition of finished product by devising evaluation tests, methods, and procedures.
  • Institutes rework standards by devising inspection and physical testing methods and procedures.
  • Creates product quality documentation system by writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
  • Maintains product quality by enforcing quality assurance policies and procedures and government requirements.
  • Collaborates with leadership members to develop new product and engineering designs and manufacturing and training methods.
  • Prepares product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Completes quality assurance operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees and following up on work results.
  • Develops a quality assurance team selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Manages quality assurance team job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
  • Ensures quality by planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Achieves financial objectives by preparing the quality assurance budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required. 5-10 years of experience as a QA Director.

Experience with QA measuring and testing equipment

Working knowledge of quality system requirements

Knowledge of safety requirements and legal standards

Experience with MS Word, Excel, project management, and analytics software

Certificates and Licenses:

Valid driver's license

LANGUAGE SKILLS:  

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.

MATH ABILITY:          

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other report writing and project planning software. Experience working in an ERP environment is desirable.  Epicor Prophet 21 experience a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
