Managed Care Services Assistant

The Managed Care Assistant performs administrative work as an assistant to the Managed Care Department to support the case management process and managed care programs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Enter case management and vendor referrals into the system.
- Assign referrals to case managers.
- Enter case management chargebacks into the system.
- Handle faxes and incoming data for telephonic nurse case managers.
- Use phone, e-mail, and fax to request information from provider's offices.
- Coordinate appointments and care coordination referrals in support of the case management process and cost containment efforts.
- Responsible for administrative level support of MEMICs 24/7 injury triage program.
- Responsible for processing of vendor case management invoices.
- Enter data in support of telephonic nurse case managers and the managed care team.
- High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 1-2 years of customer service and/or administrative support experience within a fast-paced office environment required.
- Experience in a clinical or medical setting is preferred.
- Ability to learn multiple computer applications quickly and type with speed and accuracy is critical.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Prior experience in Workers' Compensation is a plus.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.
