Our 6-doctor Emergency Service is open 7 days a week and sees a variety of cases from routine to complex emergencies. The ideal candidate's skill level should include obtaining lab samples, placing catheters, administering SQ, IM and IV injections, and maintaining equipment / instruments.

We are looking for candidates who:

Enjoy patient care, including receiving/delivering patient rounds

Enjoy team collaboration in order to provide excellent medical care to our patients

Enjoy fast paced, can multi-task and have attention to detail.

Have a basic understanding of orthopedic and soft tissue surgical procedures, surgical instrumentation, sterilization process, orthographic radiographs/techniques, and bandaging technique/application ​ Embody our Core Values: Patient Care, Client Service, Collaboration, Team, Education, Kindness, and Reliability

*Job requirements also include restraining animals, cleaning kennels, and promoting outstanding customer service. Candidate should be a self-motivated, hard-working team player. Cornerstone software familiarity is a plus. This is a full-time position. Hours may vary.

Veterinary Assistant Pay: $19.35 - $28.70 / hour depending on experience and advancement through CareerTrax leveling system. We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

*Shift differentials are based on a 4 hour minimum.

Schedule: Monday - Thursday (part of ER on-call 2XMonth) / assist in other departments.

As a Veterinary Assistant, you will:

  • Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.

  • Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.

  • Understand classification ofcommonly usedmedications, associated sideeffectsand appropriatelymonitorstherapeutic response.

  • Administer medications viaappropriate routesand duration.

  • Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratoryrateand effort.

  • Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment andassistwith patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.

  • Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines anddemonstratesproficiencyin designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
