Senior Medical Associates seeks a psychiatrist to join a quality-focused team to care for an underserved population at the 23 hour Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) at Palomar Health, in the Escondido neighborhood of San Diego.
Senior Medical Associates focuses on care to those in greatest need, serving high-risk underserved populations throughout San Diego County. We offer flexible schedules, opportunities to grow and evolve your work interests at nearly any level of care on the mental healthcare continuum.
DUTIES: Most of your effort will focus in the free-standing CSU adjacent to the hospital ER where you will perform initial, followup and discharge services as well as supervision of a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Some hours are spent performing consultations in the hospital ER a few steps away. Benefit from close collaboration with a peer hospital consult psychiatrist, psychiatric social workers, psychiatric nurses, peer support and other specialty providers.
The treatment populations are myriad adults in crisis ranging from involuntary to voluntary clients, novel neuropsychiatric presentations, chronic mental illness, substance use disorders and beyond. CSU Clients are screened for those with an acuity appropriate to receive care in this freestanding setting rather than the emergency room.
EXPERIENCE: The ideal candidate would posess clinical acumen in Emergency Psychiatry, Consult Liaison Psychiatry or Inpatient Psychiatry are required. An ability to work in a collaborative, growth-oriented, environment is essential.
Must be ABPN Board Certified or have a test date in hand at time of application. Must possess active, unrestricted California Medical & DEA licenses at time of application. No recruiters, J1 or H1B candidates.
SCHEDULE: Shifts are 8 hours in duration, delivered in-person (no tele). We are currently hiring for Sundays and some Saturday shifts.
COMPENSATION: $204 per hour plus additional annual bonus, Malpractice insurance including tail coverage provided. Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligible.
