POSITION SUMMARY

Sony Biotechnology, located in San Jose, CA is seeking a Senior Manager, Global Scientific Affairs to join the team working under the Global Marketing organization. The Senior Manager, Global Scientific Affairs will have primary responsibility to support End-user/ Key opinion leader engagement and driving educational engagement working with Product marketing and Sales leadership. In addition, this role will also bring in end user feedback and market needs information for product planning and future product development.

This role will have a focus on improving customer engagement and retention and lead the transformation of the current Sony market presence. The ideal candidate will have hands on experience with flow cytometry (multiple platforms), experience with end-user educational needs and practices and have relationships in the local and global flow cytometry community. They should be able to partner externally with Key opinion leaders and internally with Sony leadership and work cross-functionally to enhance customer experience and solidify Sony Biotechnology's position in the flow cytometry community. The focus of the role will be to improve Sony Biotechnology market visibility over time through building key customer relationships and enabling collaborative activities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Leads engagement of end-users and Key Opinion leaders (KOLs) to enhance Sony's presence/voice and awareness in the flow cytometry market (with a high-end/ core lab focus)
  • Primary responsibility will be to lead the engagement of North America(NA) user base and KOLs
  • Works globally as needed with the Global Scientific Affairs (SCA) team to increase engagement and drive creation of a User Community
  • Works within the SCA team to enable recruitment of end users for collaborations and Early access (EA) /beta testing programs
  • Works with Field team leaders and Sales leadership as needed to increase the educational efforts in key markets (regional) for increasing product utilization
  • Focus on content review and assists with training of internal staff as needed
  • Delivers talks at industry events and participates in industry forums on behalf of Sony where appropriate
  • Memberships at local/global flow user groups and committees that help with technology adoption and educational efforts
  • Develops technical notes/ application notes as needed
  • May collaborate with external entities to develop and publish technical content
  • Evaluates new technology and provides input to the Technical and marketing team members on potential impact on market and user communities
  • Acts as consultant to the R&D (design) teams as needed
  • Keep updated on latest practices and trends through close collaboration with domain leaders and works closely with global marketing managers
  • The role will work across the Sony Biotechnology portfolio in areas of strategic importance
  • This position will be integrated from Day-to-day operational perspective into the Global marketing organization and work closely with the Product Marketing team
  • The role will also have responsibility to stay connected with R&D, Product Planning and management and provide feedback as needed in a timely manner
  • Up to 50% of domestic/international travel may be required
QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION

Your qualifications and experience should include:
  • Technical proficiency in Flow cytometry and related scientific disciplines, with experience in career doing bench work. At least 5-7years of experience in field
  • In-field experience in a major market with proven experience delivering technical content, promoting new technology adoption
  • Clear understanding of use of flow cytometers in current settings as well as deep knowledge of a wide range of scientific applications
  • Understanding of competitive products and technologies
  • Working relationships with KOLs and Leaders in the market
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to translate customer feedback into actionable strategic options
  • Demonstrated teamwork across cross-functional areas

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $145,000 to $165,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
