SUMMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION: The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth School for Marine Science and Technology is developing a graduate certificate in Ocean Observing, Modeling, and Management of Offshore Wind to prepare leaders in the scientific workforce for offshore wind for assessing and managing the interactions of this emerging sector with the marine environment and other sectors. The program coordinator will be responsible for both program development and partner collaboration, including developing internships and industry support for the certificate program. In collaboration with a graduate student program fellow and the program steering committee, the coordinator will promote the certificate program, develop program materials, and coordinate program events and student outreach. The program coordinator will also work to develop a sustainable recruitment program for the certificate, ensuring that the program's desired target of prioritizing enrollment from frontline communities and historically excluded groups is achieved. This will include coordination with cross-campus cluster recruiting strategies to enhance visibility of opportunities and demonstrate the interdisciplinary approach to student training. The coordinator will also assist with other academic and researcher training programs within the School for Marine Science and Technology. The coordinator follows the University's best practices to build and/or support student academic success and retention and assist in meeting strategic objectives for persistence and timely graduation of all the student population.
EXAMPLES OF PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborates with faculty and the department chairs on program development and partner collaboration, including developing internships and industry support for the certificate program.
- Collaborates with a graduate student program fellow and program steering committee to promote the certificate program, develop program materials, and coordinate program events and student outreach.
- Develop a sustainable recruitment program for the certificate, ensuring that the program's desired target of prioritizing enrollment from frontline communities and groups historically excluded from STEM is achieved. This will include coordination with cross-campus cluster recruiting strategies to enhance visibility of opportunities and demonstrate the interdisciplinary approach to student training.
- Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned and/or the job description changed periodically to reflect changing organization needs
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of experience and education.
- EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated experience in program coordination.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated experience in project administration and/or project support, with examples of how you organize workflows and complete tasks on schedule
- Demonstrated experience in coordination/organization of events and meetings
- Demonstrated ability and interest in content creation and communications with a marketing focus, including social media posts to reach a targeted audience
- Interest in higher education programming and/or administration
- An educational, applied background or interest in environmental conservation or other related fields
- A record of success effectively working with a small team or group, maintaining a solution-based focus and positive demeanor
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative and prioritize multiple tasks, emphasizing time management skills and outcomes of projects you have supported or worked on
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with comfort engaging with a wide range of people

SALARY: $507 - $650/week - Part-Time with benefits (commensurate with experience)
