Key Responsibilities:
- Slide Preparation: Prepare high-quality histologic slides through processes such as tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining.
- Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and compliance with safety standards.
- Specialized Staining: Assist with specialized staining techniques, including immunohistochemistry, for comprehensive tissue analysis.
- Specimen Documentation: Accurately label, document, and track specimens to maintain the integrity of patient information and results.
- Collaboration: Work alongside pathologists and laboratory staff to ensure prompt and precise reporting of findings.
- Quality Control: Engage in quality control and assurance initiatives to foster continuous improvement within the laboratory.
- Professional Development: Stay informed about the latest histology techniques, safety regulations, and ASCP certification standards.
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Histotechnology or a related field.
- Certification: ASCP certification as a Histology Technician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL).
- Experience: Preferred: Over 1 year of experience in a histology lab.
