Job Overview: Provide technical support on all hardware and software used by Maury County School District. You will also schedule appointments with administrative staff and school system employees. You will be working as a technology specialist closing tickets from our ticket system.

Job Functions:
  • Has a basic knowledge of PC hardware gained through formal training such as a comprehensive trade/technical school program of study related to computer hardware, or has spent significant time working in a computer service and repair business.
  • Ability to troubleshoot PC components and replace items determined to be defective.
  • Capable of swapping computer components as directed.
  • Can install and configure PC operating systems and application software on hard drives.
  • Can install and configure typical computer peripherals such as local printers or scanners.
  • Can configure Network/shared printers.
  • Helps to deliver and setup technology equipment.
  • Can assist others in troubleshooting computer problems.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of customers, supervisors, Board Members, and vendors regarding technology and operations.
  • Inspects personal computer equipment and reads order sheet listing user requirements to prepare microcomputer for delivery.
  • Installs hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives on user's premises.
  • Loads specified software packages
  • Enters commands and observes system functions to verify correct system operation.
  • Responds to client inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems.
  • Instructs users in use of equipment, software, and manuals.
  • Recommends or performs minor remedial actions to correct problems.
  • Coordinates activities with help desk, network services, or other information systems groups.
  • Provides updates, status, and completion information to manage, problem request tracking system, and/or users, via voice mail, e-mail, or in-person communication.
  • Replaces defective or inadequate hardware and software packages.
  • Install LAN, and WAN wiring per IEEE standards; and
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
